Bali - December 18th 2014

Goodbye Perth – hello Bali!!

We left Perth at approximately 8.30pm on Thursday 18th December.  Our flight was slightly delayed and we landed in Bali at around 12am.  It was pouring rain, so we had to wait in the plane as they did not want to open the plane door in case the electronics got wet.  We stood in the aisles for about 20 minutes before they decided to open the back door.  The lady behind me had a young child and a baby so I offered to help her carry some things off the plane - I did not want her slipping.

Unfortunately we got split up, we got on one bus while she had to wait for the next bus - so there we were at Bali airport waiting with her property for her bus to come.  This was no big deal there were no immigration forms - what a balls up!!  There were people everywhere but no one had any immigration cards.

We eventually got cards (photocopied slips of paper) and all the counter space was being used so I had to literally lay on the ground to fill them out.  All done – good, on to pay our visa, $48Aud, not that long, then on to immigration, this was quite a long line!!  Luggage collection was another line then lining up to put all of our luggage through the x-ray.  By the time we got out of the airport it was about 1.30am.  No taxis around so we had to bargain with a driver – eventually agreeing to pay 120 000 (normally 50 000) to La Walon.

La Walon, you beautiful place, how much we have missed you!!

As some of the Ahearns were in Bali during our stay, we organised a meet and feed at the Aussie Brazillian BBQ - as great night with lots of laughs.
